A Wedding DJ's Guide to Westmeath

Westmeath has more lakes and walled gardens per wedding than almost anywhere else I work -Lough Ennell, Lough Owel, the grounds at Belvedere. It's some of the most genuinely scenic wedding country in the Midlands, and it usually means at least part of your day happens outdoors, which changes how I plan the sound.

Gardens and Lakeside Grounds

A ceremony or drinks reception on lawn or by water sounds beautiful but is genuinely harder to get right acoustically than an indoor room -wind, open space, and guests spread further apart all eat into clarity. I check the specific spot in advance rather than assuming an outdoor PA will just work on the day.

Getting the Timeline Right

Estate and garden venues often mean more walking between the ceremony spot, the reception room, and photo locations than a single-room hotel would. I build a bit more flexibility into the evening's timeline for that, so the transition into the first dance doesn't feel rushed if photos run long.

What a Westmeath Wedding With Me Looks Like

  • Sound equipment suited to outdoor and semi-outdoor spaces, not just indoor ballrooms.
  • A flexible timeline that accounts for a garden or lakeside venue's extra moving parts.
  • 30 years of experience reading a crowd, indoors or out.
