A Wedding DJ's Guide to Sligo

Sligo has a reputation as Yeats country -Benbulben, Lough Gill, the whole "land of heart's desire" of it- and it shows up in a lot of weddings I play there, from readings to first-dance songs. Here's how I think about DJing a Sligo wedding specifically.

The Room Shapes the Set

Sligo venues range from big lakeside hotels to smaller countryside spots, and the two need genuinely different approaches. A 250-person hotel ballroom wants a system built for volume and a set that can hold a big room's energy. A 60-person countryside wedding wants something closer to an intimate house party -less about filling a room, more about reading twenty conversations and knowing when to bring people onto the floor.

Working Around Strandhill and the Coast

If your venue's out toward Strandhill or the coast, exposure to Atlantic weather is a real factor for anything outdoors, same as it is further south in Mayo and Clare. I plan sound and lighting with a backup indoor option built in from the start, not scrambled together if the forecast turns.
