A Wedding DJ's Guide to Limerick

Limerick weddings tend to split into two very different nights: a city hotel with a lively, packed ballroom, or a country estate around Adare with a slower, more intimate pace. Neither is better -they just need a different set from me, and it's worth thinking about which one actually suits your guest list before you book a venue.

Adare vs. the City

Adare's thatched-village setting suits a wedding that wants to breathe -longer gaps between courses, a slower build to the dancefloor, lighting that fits a period building rather than a function room. Limerick city venues are usually built for volume and energy from the first dance onward. I set up differently for each rather than bringing one rig and hoping it fits.

Guests Flying In

Limerick's proximity to Shannon Airport means it's a genuinely easy county for guests flying in from the UK or further afield, which changes the guest mix at a lot of the weddings I play here -more mixed accents on the dancefloor, sometimes a wider range of music to cover. I ask about this specifically in the pre-wedding consultation so nobody's left out of the set.

What a Limerick Wedding With Me Looks Like

  • A sound and lighting setup matched to the room, whether that's a period estate or a city ballroom.
  • A music brief built around your actual guest list, including guests travelling from outside Ireland.
  • 30 years of reading a crowd, from intimate Adare gatherings to bigger city receptions.
