A Wedding DJ's Guide to Athlone
A lot of Athlone weddings I play happen right on the water -the Shannon runs through the town, and several of the hotels sit directly on the river or out along Lough Ree. It's a genuinely nice setting, and it comes with a couple of practical things worth planning around.
Riverside and Lakeside Rooms
Function rooms with a view of the water are often built with big windows and higher ceilings than a standard hotel ballroom, which changes how sound behaves in the room. I adjust the setup to the specific space rather than using the same settings I'd use in a lower, more enclosed room.
A Genuinely Central Location
Athlone's position on the Shannon makes it an easy option for guests coming from Dublin, Galway, or further afield, without anyone facing a genuinely long drive. That's worth knowing if your guest list is spread across the country and you want a venue that doesn't rule anyone out.
What an Athlone Wedding With Me Looks Like
- A sound setup adjusted for riverside and lakeside function rooms, not a one-size-fits-all rig.
- Timeline planning that accounts for a guest list travelling in from multiple counties.
- 30 years of reading a crowd across the Midlands and the Shannon lakelands.
